City Council write in candidate Matt Evans, I am running for City Council in Lexington’s 8th District. With over a decade of experience as an IT professional and a deep commitment to community service, I am dedicated to bringing positive change and innovation to our district. Although I missed the deadline to be on the ballot I still had planned on a grass roots campaign. I will be highly visible and engaged with our residents to insure proper and adequate representations for everyone.
My Vision: To create a more connected, safe, and inclusive community where every resident has access to essential services and opportunities to thrive. Transparency and compassion are pillars of my campaign to insure I serve your needs and not my own.

- Reinvesting in Our Community: I pledge to reinvest my entire $36,000 City Council salary back into the community each year, either directly or through a non-profit organization.
- Enhancing Public Transportation: Assess and optimize the locations of bus stops in Lexington to ensure accessibility for all residents.
- Improving Pedestrian Safety: Implement measures such as painting crosswalks and adding essential signage to enhance safety for pedestrians.
- Addressing Speeding: Deploy speed bumps at critical locations to combat speeding and ensure the safety of our neighborhoods. Explore alternatives to speedbumps for Lexington.
- Expanding Access to Services: Work to expand access to education, healthcare, and other essential services for all residents. Expanding and improving the community centers and parks in district 8 will be a top priority as well.
- Protecting Affordable Housing: Enact ordinances to shield low-income families from rent hikes and ensure affordable housing for all. Apartments will be a focus, insuring they are properly cared for and safe.
- Boosting Technological Infrastructure: Enhance Wi-Fi connectivity in public spaces like parks and bus stops to keep our community connected. Technology can work for us, save us money and significantly improve our lives.
- Maintaining Accessibility: Committed to being accessible and visible throughout my tenure, ensuring that no issue is overlooked or unresolved.
